More than Art Images
Cross-disciplinary coverage includes the arts, history, architecture, design, literature, city planning, anthropology, landscape architecture, archaeology, geography, cartography, gender, ethnic and area studies.
Freely Accessible Collections in Insight®
Many Insight collections are freely accessible to the UC community and the general public from
Cartography Associates' Visual Collections web site, including the
Museums and the Online Archive of California (MOAC) collection. Most collections are viewable in both java client and web browser versions of Insight®. Cartography Associates' Visual Collections -- art, architecture, cartography, photography and more --provides access to the largest digital image service with free, internationally accessible content useful for cross-disciplinary research and learning using Insight's image management and presentation tools for delivery.
Uses Luna Insight®
UC Image Service has licensed Luna InsightŪ software for the delivery of shared digital image collections. You need only
download the software once to your personal computer.
Collection Development
California Digital Library (CDL) coordinates content of UC's Image Service, based on recommendations from the
Joint Steering Committee on Shared Collections (JSCSC). Recommendations for content should be brought to the attention of
your campus visual resources curator, any campus librarian, or a
member of the JSCSC.
Terms and Conditions of Use
Many resources available through the California Digital Library (CDL) are licensed by the University of California for non-commercial use by UC faculty, staff, students and on-site users at UC campus locations, for educational or research purposes only.
The terms and conditions of the agreements with the vendors and publishers of these electronic resources regulate your use of these resources. These conditions include but are not limited to restrictions on copying, republishing, altering, redistributing and reselling the information contained therein. Copyright Information
Consult the UC Copyright Education web site regarding policies and resources, copyright ownership, use of copyrighted works, and frequently asked questions.
Image Service Discussion List (imageservice-l@ucop.edu)
California Digital Library (CDL) has created a discussion list for image service administrators and stakeholders (e.g., VR curators, librarians, edu tech/IT support). The list is primarily a communication channel for news about the UC Image Service and Luna Insight® software. The list also serves CDL as an advisory group of domain experts on image service issues, and as a discussion forum for members.
To request to be added to the list, contact Lena Zentall at CDL.
